Charitable Donations

The Chesterfords Community Preschool is a volunteer led charity, focused on providing an excellent early years setting to prepare local children for their academic journeys. We rely heavily on fund-raising and donations to keep the setting in operation. If you or your organisation are searching for a worthwhile local cause, please contact us to learn how your donation could be used.

2023-2024

  • We are really grateful to the Tudwick Foundation, for their very generous £3,000 grant, which we received in March 2024.  The grant will make a really big difference to the Preschool, particularly during the current economic challenges we are facing, helping us to meet the increasing running costs of the Preschool.   As part of the ongoing Cost of Living Crisis many of our bills have increased significantly and the Tudwick Foundation’s grant will have a positive impact on the Preschool.

  • In December 2023, we hired the village Community Centre and held a Christmas Extravaganza with Father and Mrs Christmas, crafts for the children and our traditional Christmas tree sale.  We received wonderful support from the local community on the day and raised a fantastic £2,680

  • In Autumn 2023, the Preschool was awarded a £500 grant from Jane Bradbury’s Educational Foundation, for help with the cost of educational materials and equipment. We really appreciate the support of the trustees and want to express our sincere thanks to them for choosing us.

  • We’re really grateful to the Saffron Walden Rotary Club for making us one of their chosen charities again this year, with a wonderful donation of £140. We really appreciate their continued support.

  • The Preschool was gratefully awarded £500 of funding in August 2023 from the Stansted Airport Passenger Community Fund, to help support the maintenance and enhancement of the Preschool outdoor play area. The funds were put towards the Nature Space, for the children to enjoy in the warmer months ahead.

  • We are also really grateful to Gareth Thompson of Leaf and Lawn for donating his time to undertake essential tasks on the Preschool’s Nature Space. The Nature Space is based in the village’s allotment, local to the Community Centre where the Preschool is based and is very loved by all the children, who really enjoy spending their time there. We are extremely grateful to Gareth for doing this in his own time and for undertaking this work free of charge.

2022-2023

  • We are incredibly grateful to the Essex Fund, administered by the Essex Community Foundation, for their very generous £3,000 grant.  The grant will really help to support our wonderful Preschool during the ongoing Cost of Living crisis.  As you can imagine, this is a particularly challenging time for the Preschool, in terms of increasing bills, for example, and this money will play a significant role in supporting the important work that we do.

  • Every year the Preschool runs a very well-attended Christmas tree sale, which is a great opportunity for the local community to come together to support the Preschool.  In December 2022, we raised approximately £1,000, which made a significant difference to the Preschool.

  • In the Summer of 2023, the Preschool successfully installed a shaded structure in our Nature Space area, to provide vital shade for our children when spending time outdoors. The installation was only made possible by a generous donation of £615 by the Uttlesford District Council, as part of their Community Project Grant Scheme, and we are very grateful for their support.

  • In early 2023, we found out that we had been successful in receiving a generous £500 donation from the Saffron Walden Rotary Club’s Christmas collection.  We are incredibly grateful for this donation, which we are putting towards renovating our much-loved garden space.  The children use the garden every day so it is a vital resource for the preschool.  Thank you again!

  • The Saffron Walden Football Club kindly made us the beneficiaries of their annual charity football match in April 2023.  In total we raised £1,000 and we’re incredibly grateful to the Club for their support.
